At Honch, we’re always tracking the UK’s most exciting companies as they secure funding and prepare for rapid growth. In September 2025, we identified 128 newly funded companies, and we’ve selected a handful that are set to redefine their sectors:
Phasecraft – £28 million, Series B – UK quantum algorithms startup Phasecraft is focused on delivering immediate quantum advantage through ultra-efficient, hardware-agnostic algorithms. Their Series B funding accelerates R&D in materials simulation and complex system optimisation, supported by partnerships with Google, IBM, and Johnson Matthey. By making today’s imperfect quantum hardware commercially viable, Phasecraft is helping bridge the gap between theoretical potential and practical industrial impact.
CHARM Therapeutics – £65 million, Series B – London-based CHARM is using AI to design next-generation cancer drugs. Their proprietary DragonFold platform predicts protein–small molecule interactions, enabling the development of a menin inhibitor for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The Series B funding is strategically earmarked to ensure this therapy becomes best-in-class, overcoming resistance mutations and adverse effects seen in earlier treatments. CHARM is aiming for clinical trials early in 2026, positioning the company at the forefront of AI-driven oncology.
NRG Therapeutics – £50 million, Series B – Based in Stevenage, NRG is tackling neurodegeneration through mitochondrial-targeted therapies. Their lead candidate, NRG5051, is an oral small molecule that blocks the mitochondrial permeability transition pore, a mechanism linked to neuronal death in ALS and Parkinson’s disease. The Series B funding will support initial human trials across multiple indications, complemented by a £4 million grant from the Michael J. Fox Foundation. This dual approach could make NRG a key player in the fight against high-unmet-need neurodegenerative diseases.
CuspAI – £82 million+, Series A – Cambridge-based CuspAI has built an AI “search engine” for materials, generating novel, synthesizable candidates faster than traditional methods. Their platform already has industrial partners like Hyundai, Meta, and Kemira, tackling challenges in sustainable energy, carbon capture, and semiconductors. This substantial Series A allows CuspAI to scale its platform, proving that AI can drive multi-billion-pound efficiency gains in materials science.
These highlights represent just a fraction of the companies funded in September. At Honch, we provide comprehensive insights into all the UK’s growth-driven companies and the key decision-makers behind them.
